Android Phone: Getting Started

Students are encouraged to bring their Android phone to class.
Students should bring fully charged devices to class. They will also need their username and password for their phone.
The goal of this course is to enhance your experience in using your Android phone, demystify its workings and controls to make it an effective tool for you, and provide advice on how to effectively use its most popular features. Give us a few hours and we can unlock the power of your Android Phone for you. Students should bring fully charged devices to class. They will also need their username and password for their phone.
Lesson 1: Introduction to Android Smartphone
You will learn what’s so “smart” about your Smartphone, basic phone settings like sounds and screen displays, using mobile (cellular) and local (WiFi) connections; making, receiving, and screening calls; using contact lists so you can easily get in touch with the people and business in your world; and keeping your phone secure.
Lesson 2: Basics Beyond Phone Calls
You will learn how to use your phone for text messages and emails; take pictures and videos, and share them with others; use your phone’s calendar and clock features to keep track of appointments and set reminders and alarms; navigate with Google Maps; and browse the Internet from almost anywhere you happen to be.
