Mac Computer Basics

4 sessions of 2.5 hours each

You will need to bring your Mac Laptop & mouse (if you use one) to class to participate in this class. Make sure your laptop is charged and running the latest operating system (currently Sonoma). Prerequisite: none

Knowledge of these basic functions is a prerequisite for all other Mac computer-based classes including Mac Computer Advanced..

Come join your fellow seniors and learn the amazing things a Mac LAPTOP can do. We will also cover the App Store, Apple Pay, Mail & Messages, Internet basics and so much more. Learning about System Preferences and how to navigate the Dock will help you use your Mac in a more productive way. You will need to bring your laptop (and mouse) to class. Please make sure your laptop is charged and running the latest operating system. (Sequoia Mac OS15)

Lesson 1

We will explore Mac Symbols, Shortcuts, Setting up an Apple ID, Touch ID and the Menu Bar.

Lesson 2

A tour of the “Dock”; Using System preferences to set up your Mac the way you want it; How to customize your desktop & using screensavers.

Lesson 3

Safari, Mac’s Internet browser, Contacts, Messages (Texting) and Using Maps.

Lesson 4

Setting up an email account; Inline Predictive Text; The App Store, Apple Music; Places to go for help.
